Time Machine to the Classroom

Want to step into a time machine and visit at least a portion of your grammar school days? Russell Fee's "A Dash of Expectation" just might take you back to some of the pranks you pulled back in the day or rekindle memories of how your classroom acted when the substitute teacher was in charge, or remind you of the regular tussle between the boys and girls over who gets to pick the next classroom movie. Some of Fee's stream of consciousness poems will trigger such memories of your early school days while other verses provide a glimpse of what just might be happening in your child's school. Readers also will get access into what's happening inside the teacher's head such as what to do about the student he always raises his hand and Fee's anxiety over whether a particular lesson was asking students enough questions, too many questions or even the right questions.

Here is an insider's understanding of children and how they think and learn. But Fee's language -his way with words is not to be missed. Fee captures that kernel of living some of us are too busy to see or hear. He grabs the moment and with a keen sense of human culture, invites the reader to experience the joy and at times--the angst-- we have all faced in life.
