Research the Author Before Buying

While the premise appears logical, closer investigation to Ezzo resulted in troubling conclusions about his credentials and methodology. I regret making this purchase.

Excellent starting point

I've read both the positive and negative reviews of this series... in my opinion, it just works. My baby isn't suffering from any psychological trauma... and while she has a schedule, it is not ridged and it is VERY flexible. The scheduling was a major benefit because my husband and I went away on a trip (which was scheduled, planned, and paid for pre-pregnancy) and we were able to leave the baby with his parents. We left them with a schedule and they followed it loosely. They were amazed that they could set their watch by her schedule. She even poops around the same time every day so you know what to expect when changing the diapers!!
Critics of this series either never worked with it or did not give it a fair chance. This series would never be pulled off the shelves if it works and if there's a demand for it! I recommend the books to any parents. I do not think the author meant the scheduling to be auto-pilot parenting. He even stresses that the parent needs to observe and make decisions based on the circumstances. If the baby is hungry, feed the baby (growth spurt); if the baby is wet, change the diaper; if the baby is screaming in pain, then find out what's wrong (maybe gas). Schedule does not equal auto-pilot parenting!! Put on your thinking caps!!
I do recommend that when trying to start BabyWise, it's best if you're not moving around so much. Within the first 12 weeks of our baby's life, she travelled across 3 states. This does not help with establishing a schedule! Try to avoid travelling or any major life changing event around the time of your baby's birth. Give it about 12 weeks before doing something major - like moving to another state (that's what we did).
Follow the principle, not the letter of the law.

A must have for new moms!

These books have produced two happy, healthy, well adjusted children. I didn't follow the book perfectly, but I used the general guidelines with my children. I often refer back to the books when little issues come up with the kids and I easily find a solution!
